Ever find that you’re are jogging really slowly and yet you feel like your body is working really hard? Next time you find yourself in that situation, try this: Speed up. It turns out that humans have an ideal pace at which their bodies get into a groove and everything gets a little easier. In other words, you could be working less at higher speeds.
During a recent study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the optimal speeds averaged out to about 7 minute miles for men and 9 minute miles for women.
