We all want to believe that a person born in extreme poverty has the same shot to better himself via education and live out a successful life, and of course there are examples of this story playing out. But it’s not easy. It’s not just the long road from poverty to economic success. It’s also the damage that poverty can do to the brain that makes an uphill battle even steeper.
