A new study finds that having a Type A personality could be the key male trait when it comes to procreation.
The study finds that adolescents who say they always take charge, tell others what to do, anger quickly, get into fights easily, and walk, talk and eat fast end up having more kids than others when they grow up. That’s true regardless of the kids’ performance in school.
Another related study found that women were more likely to want to have sex with funny men because humor is a trait associated with intelligence (although no study, and certainly not this blog, has ever confirmed a humor/intelligence connection).
Questionable studies aside, I’ll throw my own one person research into the mix here. In college, I was talking to an attractive young co-ed who found me to be absolutely hilarious. So I made my move and asked her out that Friday night. She said yes. I planned. I dressed. I showed up at her sorority. She wasn’t there. Why? She thought I was joking when I asked her out.
Being funny is nice, but if given a choice of procreation-related strategies, I’d shoot for being enigmatic and playing guitar whenever your not surfing.
