When There’s No Doctor in the House

One of the many elements that could throw a wrench (or a stethoscope) into the Obama health care reform plans is a shortage of doctors. More people getting health insurance will increase the demand for doctors, but in the short term, there might not be enough doctors to reasonably meet the demand.

So what gives? It could come down to a simple case of demographics. Baby boomers who entered the field are now retiring. Meanwhile, that same demographic group is reaching the age where they need more medical care.
