A recent study showed that patients who got phony acupuncture with toothpicks being gently pressed against their flesh actually overcame back pain as quickly as those who received real acupuncture (not sure if this held for those who got poked with cocktail umbrellas).
I have found two key things to be true about acupuncture. It’s really effective for some things especially stress (and they say it’s great for nausea). And, like many forms of alternative medicine, its effectiveness is very much dependent on who the practitioner is.
