I inherited from my mom the ability to accurately size up a person with a single glance, often from as far as 500 feet away. So it doesn’t surprise or particularly bother me that a recent study in the Journal of Science found that children as young as five can accurately predict the eventual winners of elections simply by looking at the faces of the candidates.
This finding contributes to a large and growing body of evidence, coming from many research groups, which shows that voters seem to be heavily influenced by a candidate’s appearance, and in particular the kinds of personality traits that a politician’s face projects
