According to a recent study of the nation’s 50 most populous cities, Washington, DC is also the fitness capital. If you’re looking for a more relaxing place to visit, I suggest Oklahoma City; they came in 50th out of 50.
I’m not sure about this list. The so-called fitness levels are based on a variety of factors such as:
- Availability of parks, walking and bike trails and public transportation.
- Percentage of people who exercise regularly, maintain a healthy weight and eat the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables.
- Percentage of people who have access to health care and have health insurance.
- Percentage of people who don’t smoke.
If you want to find fitness monsters, I’d put my Bay Area up against any place in the world.
