Locked Out of a Hospital Room

I was going to start this post by asking you to imagine yourself being barred from the hospital room where your husband or wife or other family member was in their last moments of life. But then I realized that would be an unreasonable way to set up a post because no one in a free society could even imagine such a thing.

Well, no one except gay people. Being barred from a hospital room where her partner of two decades was dying is exactly what happened Janice Langbehn.

We all know these things will change. We all know the laws will eventually come around. We all know the right side usually prevails in the end when it comes to these nonsenical trends in American history. But I doubt Janice Langbehn takes much solace in that. Neither will Jo Ann Ritchie who was removed from her partner’s room after hearing her say, “I’m afraid of dying. Don’t leave me alone.”

 Terrible.
