No Rest in Sight for Medical Residents

There have been, over the the years, moves to allow more rest and sleep time for medical residents. A few years ago, the number of hours a resident could work was reduced to a max of 80 (prior to that, residents in some specialties were pushing 100 hours).

Unfortunately for future residents, there isn’t any conclusive evidence that the reduced hours results in overall better care. And there are plenty of arguments on the other side - including, one assumes, the hazing factor. Current doctors feel like since they went through it, so should the newbies.
