A new study suggests that sitting for long periods of time throughout the day might present a higher mortality rate. The connection holds true even in cases where those people studied exercised and/or were quite active when they weren’t sitting.
This is an important observation because it suggests that high amounts of sitting cannot be compensated for with occasional leisure time physical activity even if the amount exceeds the current minimum physical activity recommendations.
I know I rarely react the way I’m supposed to when I read these studies, but I am lying down from now on.
