OK, after a couple hundred posts, I am going to finally give you what you’ve all been waiting for. A guaranteed weight-loss program. This is the one.
OK, first, move to a really cold and snowy area. Then, get a bunch of friends and attach yourselves to a sled. Now, start pulling. Keep that up for a few hundred miles.
It turns out that sled dogs have some kind of metabolic switch that enables them to burn more fat, push themselves harder and reduce the pain they feel while they’re doing it.
Specifically, sled dogs seem to flip an internal switch that acutely changes how they burn fat calories, allowing them to keep going and going and going with no obvious pain. Figuring out how that mechanism works may have implications for human diabetics and those battling obesity.
Basically, the dogs start running on fat. I wonder if we can figure out a way to get sled dogs to run on my fat. It could be a win win.
