This one goes to eleven…

The SPF-level of sunscreens has absolutely gone through the roof in recent years. This year, Neutrogena becomes the first sunblock to achieve the unthinkable: 3 digit protection. Sunbathers, meet SPF 100+ (which, at that level, should be equally protective whether you’re sunbathing or on the receiving end of a nuclear bomb).
But it turns out that these high SPF numbers really don’t mean much or make much of a difference. If you’re really looking for extra-protection from the sun, the key factor is not what SPF level sunscreen you use, but that you make sure to put enough on.
To be even more safe, try my strategy. I have combined a television and internet addiction with a distorted body image, agoraphobia, heliophobia and just a pinch of misanthropy. The last time sunlight came anywhere near my flesh was when a girl named Tassie showed up at our 7th grade class pool party in a bikini. And even now, my flesh is still occasionally red from that exposure.
