Shortly after coming to America, my dad opened an ice cream store called Moo’s. He was fairly new to the business, but he had learned that cream was the ingredient that made the ice cream rich and, well, awesome.
So he doubled the cream. And Moo’s had lines around the block (not just for that reason, but it was certainly a factor).
Now this was long before we all started counting calories and before my dad ended every meal by saying, “Oy, why did I do it?” But today’s ice cream makers are certainly none too hesitant when it comes to adding fat and calorie heavy ingredients to their mixtures.
