We keep getting fatter in America. The latest suggestion is that last year’s 1.7 percent increase in the number of Americans considered fat could be due to the recession. Cheaper, processed foods mixed with higher stress is not a good weight loss plan. While it seems like we get fatter every year, the numbers were actually pretty flat duing the few years before the economy got rocked.
Either way, even with all of our health and nutrition talk, obesity is a bigger and bigger problem in the U.S. and in many other countries. In Australia, a parliamentary committee is considering the idea of providing public funds for obesity surgery.
Are we gradually separating into two worlds, the starving and the obese?
